In a great book by Malcolm Gladwell called “The Tipping Point” he describes, how he believes changes happen in our society. “Ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread just like viruses do.” If you are interested in how change happens around us, all the time and how trends start, I recommend you read the book. One important piece of information that Gladwell points to as critical to a successful “social epidemic” is that “there must be a bedrock belief that change is possible”.
It is possible that this municipal election will mark a significant change across Alberta. Property owners may change their tolerance for paying taxes to big spending governments. Maybe we can make “tax reduction” and “spending controls” on municipal governments a new trend. Remember all the free stuff that you want is not really free. There is no such thing as a free lunch someone always picks up the tab.
